LUZ DEL SUR · UPCOMING ALBUM
Bajo las Estrellas del Sur
A year of South Texas life, carried in ten songs.
Set around a Robstown dance hall, the album moves through family, celebration, first love, heartbreak, Sunday reflection and homecoming. At its center is inheritance: the light Luz received from the people who came before her—and eventually learns she now carries for others.
Meet Luz del SurTHE STORY
Todavía hay luz del sur.
Luz grew up with conjunto and Tejano music as part of family life. Her father’s bajo sexto and her grandmother’s words become two of the album’s emotional anchors.
The opening song gives us Abuela’s light. The middle of the album passes through community, family, love and loss. By the final song, the musical ideas return and Luz realizes that she has become part of the inheritance herself.

THE KEEPSAKE
The Red Rose
The red rose belongs to Luz’s inheritance story—her grandmother, home and the light carried forward through generations.
It is not the heartbreak flower from “Flor Marchita.” That memory is represented separately by a faded pink carnation corsage.
